Rapper Drake to host ESPY Awards

Sports-crazed rapper Drake has landed a new job as the host of the 2014 ESPY Awards.

The “Started from the Bottom” hitmaker, who serves as a global ambassador for the Toronto Raptors basketball team, will emcee the sports awards event on July 16 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Announcing the new gig on Twitter.com, the Canadian star writes, “Honored to be this year’s @ESPYS host @espn 7.16.2014…”

An ESPY representative adds, “Started from the bottom, now … @Drake’s HOSTING THE 2014 ESPYS! RT (re-tweet) if you’re excited to see him take the stage.”

Drake is not the first musician to moderate the awards show – Justin Timberlake served as a host in 2008 and Jamie Foxx presented in 2003 and 2004.
